A Big Week in Hypocrisy For Conservative Culture Warriors*
Doublespeak and flat-out contradiction aren’t just a Republican thing, but they have perfected the art of projection.
Ménages à Trois with “Don’t Say Gay” Social Conservatives
“ . . . you have people who are pushing a social conservative agenda saying there’s too much sex in society, particularly LGBTQ sex, but yet have engaged in . . . well . . . a threesome.”
The absurdity of actual events often eclipses parody, especially in Florida where we have “don’t say gay” Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler, whose husband — Florida Republican Party Chairman Christian Ziegler — is credibly accused of having raped a woman with whom the married couple had admittedly engaged in three-ways (or at least one).
It’s hard for me to imagine a three-way where at least two participants are not of the same gender, especially if the husband-and-wife team insist that gender is strictly binary. But that’s where the Golden Rule comes in, elegantly illustrated in the Saturday Night Live Digital Short, It’s Not Gay When It’s In A Three-Way.
I also don’t care what consenting adults do behind closed doors, unless they are prominent culture warriors who have a heavy hand in controlling the social agenda and soapbox against the very conduct in which they participate.
