The Novel Coronavirus’ Wet Dream

Gaius Julius Caesar aka Caligula — meaning “little [soldier’s] bone spurs” — became emperor following the death of his adoptive grandfather Tiberius. His reign of nobility and moderation was short-lived. Within six months of his taking the helm, sources say, his “cruelty, sadism, extravagance and sexual perversion” established his place in history as an “insane tyrant.” He worked tirelessly to increase the unconstrained personal power of the emperor, as opposed to countervailing powers within the principate. The Roman Guard, senators, and courtiers wished to restore the Roman Republic after Caligula had consolidated, and eliminated checks on, his power.

History has a way of repeating itself.

On top of the tens of thousands of faithful Trump supporters, trillions of Novel Coronavirus will be in attendance at Caligula II’s indoor orgy in Tulsa this weekend, an unprecedented lovefest for all in attendance. Despite recommendations from the CDC, everyone knows all forms of prophylactic are discouraged, and will be mocked, despite the widespread surge of highly contagious disease.

Many kind people wish the best for all attendees. My kindness ran out of patience some time ago. My concern is not for them, the ones who sign up to “assume the risk” of being infected, but the people who do not assume the risk, those who will be exposed by attendees who contract the disease at the rally. And the people they expose. . . .

I wrote a blog post in March after the Novel Coronavirus was making its way throughout the United States, EVERYTHING IS ABOUT ME AND MY SURVIVAL. I included the line, “If people die in my calculation for continued survival, too bad for them. I don’t care,” adding “Hint: I am COVID-19, Not Mr. Trump.” How wrong I was. It’s all about Trump and his continued survival.

With Trump’s betrayal of the citizens of the United States in every quarter, and now his causing the death of some 120,000 of those citizens with an upward trajectory and no end in sight, he cares only about himself and his own survival in what for him is a zero sum game.

We have run out of words. Cruel, sadistic, spiteful, racist, chauvinistic, incompetent, mendacious, exploitative, venal, inept, insecure, malicious, ignorant, arrogant, stupid, chauvinistic, misogynistic, homophobic, bigoted, vicious, nasty . . . .

They seem so tame and inadequate in describing the person and the moment.
